Sigi Finkel & Mamadou Diabaté Duo

Sigi is working with african musicians since years. For this duo, he joined with his former band member of "African Heart", Mamadou Diabaté from Burkina Faso. The unusual instrumenting with saxophone/flutes and balaphon/ngoni makes up the attraction of this duo.

Besides their own compositions the duo is playing songs based on the music of the Sambla, an ethnic group to which Mamadou belongs - combined with jazzy horn-lines and lyric melodies of saxophone and flute.

In spring 2005 the Duo released its first CD "Folikelaw" which was produced by the Austrian Broadcasting company ORF.



The duo has already performed at as different places as the village square of Torosso in Burkina, jazz clubs in Europe, classical concert halls in Russia and a Worldmusic festival in Lahore/Pakistan.

After over 70 concerts in the years 2005-2007 the two took a creative break. But in 2010 they will release a second album (also in cooperation with the ORF) - and concert dates are booked already!
