A perfect mixture of own compositions and newly interpreted jazz standards

This quartet doesn´t want to replay jazz standards but to find new interpretations. Rhythm and innovation come first; the arrangements are tight and swinging.

On this close carpet rolled out by the rhythm section the first class-singer Sonja Freitag extends and presents her scatted Bebop lines. Sonja Freitag not only sings some songs, but also writes them partly herself, and she is a musician of significance. With her natural feeling of swing and her glowing scat improvisations she makes, together with the rhythm section, the music
boil.

Further are on board piano player Michael Flügel, who captivates with energetic and virtuos soli as well as composer, and bassist Marco Kühnl from Nuremberg whose trademarks are a rich bass sound, brilliant soli and tight, swinging bass lines. Bandleader Joe Nied is known for his mature technique and perfect timing. He pushes the formation forward by his drum. His focus lies on the whole quartet´s sound - not the individuum should stand in the centre but the four musicians together.

The music of the album "About Love" offers a wide range of feelings: from serene to sad, from contemplative to overwhelming, from balladesque to fervently swinging. Thus jazz becomes a very special experience!
